Our Story
We tried to buy a Laker children’s book for our kids the night Kobe scored 60 points in 2016. Nothing online.
At the time, Lynn was creating characters like The Wildebeestie Boys, MC Hammerhead, and Notorious P.I.G. aka Piggie Smalls to spice up boring bedtime books for the kids with different animal voices.
When our oldest was sick of physical therapy and wearing his leg brace to school, Lynn started researching the childhoods of Laker greats to see if there was anything that could inspire our son. The stories of Laker greats overcoming struggles pierced us to our cores.
With a basketball obsessed child and an animal obsessed child, Lynn created animal names for all the Laker greats to try to juggle attention spans. It worked.
Since Lynn illustrates like a 4th grader and Cerise illustrates like a 29th grader… Cerise offered to illustrate. One thing led to another and we made a growth mindset Laker children’s book with life lessons, time machines, ninjas, pirates, aliens, dinosaurs, and pizza.
